About Jon Woodhams
Artist Statement: Thank you for visiting my gallery on Pixels/Fine Art America. In a very real sense, art does not truly exist until someone besides the artist sees it. So I don't take your visit for granted, and I hope you enjoy the images I have posted here.
I love vintage things (especially old cars, old phones and radios, and old cameras), so my photography tends to focus on things like that, though I also shoot macros and other types of photography. When it comes to my digital art, it's a different matter. I love bold, rich, vibrant color and am especially fond of large square-format abstracts. Some of them are transformed from my photos, while others are made 'from scratch.' I love both types of work equally because they are both personal and meaningful to me.
Artist Bio: Jon Woodhams grew up in a small central Michigan town in the shadow of the auto plants of Lansing and the cereal factories of Battle Creek. After high school, he studied the fine arts at a private Chicago-area college. He has lived in Colorado Springs and Brooklyn, and now resides in Memphis, Tennessee. When not shooting pictures or creating art, he is a book editor for a small New York publisher. Solo exhibits: Lucius E. and Elsie C. Burch, Jr. Library (Collerville, TN): July 2015, July 2016, October 2017 Memphis Botanic Garden (Fratelli's Cafe): May 2016 Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference Center (Bartlett, TN): January-February 2016 Four-person show: FourSights at Gallery Ten Ninety One (Cordova/Memphis), April 2017 Group exhibits with Bartlett Art Association and Artists' Link: Christian Brothers University's Beverly & Sam Ross Gallery (Memphis) Trezevant Manor (Memphis) Gallery Ten Ninety One (Cordova/Memphis)
