Description
The statue of Elvis Presley on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee is a tribute to the legendary singer who shaped the rock and roll genre. The bronze sculpture, created by Andrea Lugar in 1997, depicts a young Elvis in his early career, wearing a stage outfit he might have bought at the Lansky Bros. store nearby. The statue replaced an earlier one by Eric Parks that was damaged by weather and the vandalism of overzealous fans. The statue of Elvis is a popular attraction for fans and visitors who want to honor his legacy and influence on music history. This photograph by contemporary artist/photographer Jon Woodhams was taken near sunset, giving the statue a warm golden glow. (Also available in a vertical format here in both color and black-and-white.)
