Against a stark white background, two less-than-perfect circles emerge from a frame of black and come close but do not touch in a tense, fraught yet fearful attempt at connection. New minimalist artwork from Jon Woodhams evokes the strange tension we experience in a time of social distancing and wearing masks in hopes of avoiding the scourge of COVID-19--the coronavirus that has blanketed the earth in its suffocating grip.

As an artist, I love that I am creating something "ex nihilo," or from nothing. I love the freedom of combining shapes, movement, colors into something beautiful or intriguing that comes purely from my imagination.
